Before Marvel made its next X-Men lineup official, the rumor mill was already completely out of control. Adrian and Uncle Black run through the names being floated for Cyclops, Jean Grey, Professor X, Magneto, Emma Frost, Beast, Storm, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Iceman, Colossus and Apocalypse — and some of these picks have the crew much more convinced than others.
Then the conversation jumps from Marvel to DC with a rumor the hosts are much more excited about: Blue Beetle potentially returning without a recast in Superman: Man of Tomorrow. Along the way, the episode turns into a bigger debate about how Marvel should rebuild the X-Men, whether the MCU risks copying its own Avengers playbook, and why DC may already have its answer to Spider-Man sitting right there in Jaime Reyes.

The X-Men are one of Marvel’s biggest opportunities to reset audience expectations after years of MCU continuity. That makes the casting philosophy almost as important as the individual names. Adrian and Uncle Black repeatedly come back to the idea that younger or less-established actors can grow with Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman and the rest of the team instead of arriving already locked into a familiar version of the characters.

The Biggest Point of Debate
The rumor board starts strong enough for the hosts. Jack Champion as Cyclops gets a cautious “let him grow into it,” while Sadie Sink as Jean Grey earns one of the clearest thumbs-up reactions. The hosts are also open to several less obvious choices because the X-Men do not need every role filled by a household name.
Things get shakier once the rumored veteran names enter the conversation. Patrick Wilson as Professor X and Jason Isaacs as Magneto do not convince either host as a pairing, and Uncle Black would rather see Isaacs moved into the Xavier role than force the proposed dynamic. Sydney Sweeney as Emma Frost brings another long debate, while an Alan Ritchson Colossus and an early Apocalypse casting both get heavy pushback.
What Works
The strongest part of the rumor list is the willingness to go younger. Sadie Sink gets an enthusiastic reaction for Jean Grey, Montana Jordan visually makes sense to the hosts as Gambit, Kirby Howell-Baptiste has them interested as Storm, and Charles Melton as Beast lands in the “let’s see what they cook” category. Even when Adrian and Uncle Black are unsure of a performer, they like the broader strategy of casting actors who can grow with the franchise.
The Blue Beetle discussion is where the energy jumps. The hosts loved the previous film, see Jaime Reyes as a character with major crossover potential, and immediately start imagining how he could fit beside Superman, Mister Terrific, Green Lanterns or even a future Booster Gold project. Adrian and Uncle Black both see Blue Beetle as one of DC’s best opportunities to connect with the younger audience Marvel traditionally reaches through Spider-Man.
What Has Us Worried
The biggest concern is Marvel confusing “new X-Men” with “Avengers Phase One, but replace the characters.” The episode spends a lot of time pushing back on the idea of immediately setting up Apocalypse as another Thanos-style endgame villain. Adrian and Uncle Black want Marvel to use the mutant corner to tell a genuinely different story instead of copying its old homework.
Several individual rumors also miss for the hosts. Patrick Wilson as Professor X never fully clicks, the proposed Wilson/Isaacs Xavier-Magneto chemistry is questioned, Sydney Sweeney as Emma Frost feels more like trend-driven casting than an obvious character fit, Alan Ritchson feels too old for the younger roster being discussed, and Javier Bardem or Dwayne Johnson as Apocalypse earns a pretty direct “no thank you.”
The PWN Verdict
On the X-Men side, Adrian lands in wait-and-see territory. He likes the younger direction and several individual possibilities, but the bigger names and the idea of rushing toward Apocalypse raise red flags. The franchise has a rare chance to rebuild the mutants correctly, and he does not want Marvel wasting it by repeating the same structure audiences have already seen.
Uncle Black is similarly selective: open-minded on unknown or younger performers, much tougher on the Professor X, Magneto, Colossus and Apocalypse rumors. But there is almost no disagreement on Blue Beetle — both hosts want the character back, want the same version of Jaime to continue, and see a Superman appearance as an easy way to reintroduce him to a much larger DCU audience.
